The Auensee campsite in Joditz, which is open twelve months a year, is on the DCC’s recommendation list. It is located in the Saale valley on the edge of the Franconian Forest directly on the shore of the bathing lake of the same name. 150 permanent and 50 tourist pitches are spread across the site, while a separate area near the lake shore is reserved for tent guests. The main building houses showers, toilets and a laundry/washing room. There is also a small lounge here. The lake plays an important role in leisure activities: swimmers and dinghy riders start at one of three bathing jetties and can stop off on a small island. Back on the shore, a table tennis table, a football pitch and a beach volleyball court invite you to further sporting activities. There is also a children's playground and a barbecue house. If you don't want to cook yourself after a long day by the water, you can stop off at the lakeside restaurant and enjoy the view over the water and the green surroundings from its terrace.
