Excursion tip: The magic of the national park
Numerous mighty trees. The path leads ever higher. And suddenly - when they reach the top of the Lusen - a breathtaking view opens up for the hikers: "On the mountain they enjoy the wind and of course the feeling that they have made it this far," says ranger Kristin Biebl, who regularly guides guests of the Bavarian Forest National Park to the summit of the Lusen. Together with her colleagues, Kristin informs hikers about the oldest national park in Germany. She checks, cleans and secures the paths and looks after the animals that live in the forest. Environmental protection is particularly important to her: "I want to sensitize our guests to protecting nature and explain to them what the national park means, why it exists and why it is good," explains the young woman. Informing young and old about the forest, showing the growth and decay of nature - the tour through the Bavarian Forest National Park starts every Tuesday in the summer months at 10:30 a.m. The meeting point is the 'Park and Ride' car park in Spiegelau. “Nobody has to register – whoever is there just comes along,” says the ranger.
