Camping in Franconia
Green Dream Landscape
The diverse travel destination of Franconia in the north of Bavaria is a green dream landscape for connoisseurs: ten nature parks make up around 14,000 square kilometers, almost half of Franconia. There is the Franconian Forest Nature Park with its slate mountains, the Spessart with its ancient oaks, the Steigerwald Nature Park, which is known for its vineyards, and the Rhön with its picturesque landscape. The Altmühltal Nature Park is also impressive - one of the sunniest spots in southern Germany. Each nature park has its own character, but together they offer fascinating landscape and culture. Actively experiencing nature, experiencing cultural landscapes and finding peace - the Franconian nature parks offer endless space for this.Cycling and hiking with quality
Many routes that lead through Franconia - whether through the raised moor or through dense beech forests - are certified with quality seals. The "Frankenweg" is just one of the 23 certified hiking trails and a certified hiking region in Franconia. It leads 520 kilometers from the Rennsteig in the Franconian Forest to the Swabian Alb. Pure nature and numerous cultural highlights such as Rabenstein Castle and the Sanspareil rock garden await hikers on the "Franconian Mountain Trail" from the Franconian Forest to the Franconian Alb. In total, more than 40,000 kilometers of marked hiking trails lead through Franconia. Those who prefer to get to know the region by bike can be guided by the numerous, varied cycle paths. One of them has been awarded five stars by the General German Bicycle Club as a quality cycle route: the "Liebliches Taubertal - The Classic" cycle path. There are also three other "4-star cycle paths": the "Rhön Cycle Path", the "Pegnitz Cycle Path" and the "Aischtal Cycle Path".
Gesundheitspark Franken
No matter how you discover Franconia, there are plenty of opportunities for relaxing moments. The spas and health resorts in the "Franconia Health Park" ensure this. Thanks to innovative concepts and natural healing treasures such as brine, radon or steel, they are true fountains of health. In modern thermal baths, fantastic sauna landscapes, wellness offers or special features such as healing water or salt lakes with a concentration like the Dead Sea, you can let your camping soul unwind in pleasure.
World Heritage Site
Franconia is home to four UNESCO World Heritage sites: the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth, Bamberg's old town, Balthasar Neumann's Würzburg residence and the Limes border wall near Weissenburg in Bavaria. Franconian cities also have all kinds of sights: palaces and castles, residences and monasteries, churches and historic town centers. Formerly free imperial cities such as Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Dinkelsbühl have retained their medieval core with old half-timbered ensembles to this day.

Culinary Journey of Discovery
Body and soul are naturally held together by culinary experiences – in Franconia these are of a special quality. Hosts, farmers and food artisans such as bakers and butchers work closely together here. Regional. Seasonal. Original. – is their declared goal and you can taste it. Try a fresh Franconian beer from a small brewery, world-class character wines, from city to city sometimes short, sometimes long but always crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside – the grilled bratwurst, a tender Aischgrund carp and not forgetting Lebzelter's masterpieces: Nuremberg's finest gingerbread. Enjoy!

Fantastic Fossils
150 million years ago, the Altmühl Valley was a subtropical island and lagoon landscape. Dinosaurs roamed the land, pterosaurs dominated the skies. Today they are coming to light again as fossils. World famous: the prehistoric bird "Archaeopteryx", which can be admired in the Solnhofen Museum. In a hobby quarry, visitors can go fossil hunting themselves.
